Title I Program
Steel Valley School District receives federal funding through the Title I program enabling it to offer additional reading and math services to students in grades K-8. Students qualify for the program when they score "below basic" or "basic" on state approved assessments. Students who qualify for the program will receive a Title I School-Parent Compact that outlines what services the school will provide and how the parent and student will participate in the program. All Title I parents are encouraged to be active in the District's parent involvement program. Parents should attend all PTO meetings, parent/teacher events and Title I family activities. By being an active parent, you can provide your child with a positive outlook towards education.
|Reminder: All students in grades 7-12 are required to have 1 dose of tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis (Tdap) and 1 dose of meningitis vaccine (MCV4). Please contact your family physician or the Allegheny County Health Department at 412-578-8060.|

Steel Valley Schools Community Garden
This summer, the Steel Valley School system supported a community garden at Franklin Primary Center.
The small crew of volunteers who worked in the garden were able to weed it and plant some tomatoes, basil, dill, chives, oregano, and lettuce, all of which are still producing well.
We’d like to increase the number of volunteers in the group and we’d love to have you work with us! We will continue to work in the garden until at least the end of October and will meet over the winter to plan next year’s garden.
If you are interested in volunteering to help with the garden, please send an email to email@example.com or fill out the slip below and return to school. Students, parents, faculty, and staff are all welcome to help. Time spent in the garden can be used as community service hours for students!
